All On 4 is a dental implant Procedure where the upper or lower set of teeth are replaced with just four implants. These four Implants act as a support mechanism for the placement of a new set of fixed teeth.
This type of prosthesis is made when there are no teeth remaining (edentulous jaw) or when it is necessary to remove all remaining teeth and the patient prefers a non-removable prosthesis in comparison to a removable denture or implant-supported denture.
What are the Advantages of All-On-4 Dental Implants?
The good news for patients who have lost or will soon lose all the teeth in one or both jaws, is that full dental arch reconstruction can now be done much more cost effectively and comfortably than in the past. These complex cases are computer planned and executed such that a patient can go to sleep in the office setting, have all the diseased teeth removed, the bone of the jaw modified, dental implants placed in one procedure. What to Expect: The Implant Process
This treatment is most often followed by the placement of a temporary teeth restoration that is connected to the implants, usually the same day as implant placement. The patient wears the temporary teeth for a period of 6 months, at which time the dental implants are fully integrated into the jaw, and a final, permanent dental restoration is then placed. The patient visits with our oral surgeon on a regular basis to have the dental restoration monitored and maintained.
- Initial consultation and evaluation: Dr. Chakrapani Nannapaneni (Dr.C) examines your mouth and takes X-rays to determine if you are a candidate for the All-on-4 procedure.
- Planning and preparation: A treatment plan is created to map out the best way to place the implants.
- Surgery: During surgery, Dr. C places four dental implants in the jawbone.
- Healing and osseointegration: The implants are left to heal and fuse with the jawbone, a process called osseointegration, which typically takes 6 months.
- Placement of abutments: Once the implants have fully healed, abutments are placed on top of the implants.
- Fabrication of the final prosthesis: A temporary denture may be placed while the final prosthesis is being fabricated.
- Final placement: The final prosthesis is then attached to the abutments and the patient leaves with a full set of functional teeth.
